She-Hulk director Kat Coiro has revealed she doesn’t officially know where the upcoming Marvel TV show fits into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) timeline.
Speaking exclusively to TechRadar at the She-Hulk: Attorney at Law global press meeting, Coiro was unable to give a definitive answer where the Disney Plus program fits into an increasingly confusing timeline.
Since the Avengers time travel escapades in Endgame, not to mention the five-year time jump between Avengers: Infinity War and its successor (ie Endgame), Marvel fans have been increasingly confused about how the MCU timeline works. When projects like WandaVision and Falcon and The Winter Soldier kicked off MCU Phase 4, fans had a vague idea of where each Marvel movie and series was on the main MCU timeline.
However, with each new water production, they become more and more silted. Now fans don’t know where superhero movies like Thor: Love and Thunder or shows like Ms Marvel fit into the MCU’s overarching narrative, so MCU aficionados (including us) have resorted to guessing where those properties lie on axis time.
Coiro is also among this number. Director of Brooklyn Nine-Nine and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia has revealed that she had an idea of where the She-Hulk TV show would fit into the MCU. But given the complexity, Coiro made it clear that there is only one person who ultimately knows the answer.
“I have a lot of ideas,” she said when we asked about She-Hulk’s place on the MCU timeline. “But lest I get arrested by the Marvel Police, I always say it’s the better question for [Marvel Studios president] Kevin [Feige]. He keeps the entire MCU in his brain. And we all submit to him.

Coiro isn’t the first Marvel director, writer, or producer not to break into the Marvel timeline. The helmsman of Thor 4 Taika Waititi claims that the latest solo film of the god of thunder takes place in 2027 (for GamesRadar (opens in a new tab)), but it seems to be too far from the other recent Marvel Phase 4 designs that may be set. Meanwhile, Sana Amanat, co-creator and executive producer of the Disney Plus series for Ms Marvel, couldn’t find where Kamala Khan’s acting debut is taking place (via Direct (opens in a new tab)). Amanat suggests it’s sometime in 2025, but again there’s no official confirmation of this from either the Feige or Marvel executive team.
Suffice it to say, fans who are still trying to figure out where each new Marvel movie and TV show fits into the MCU timeline is likely to be increasingly frustrated. If only Marvel Studios had given us a full description of their main timeline …
