Netflix has announced its Wednesday release date, the rebirth of its beloved comedy-horror series The Addams Family. But fans hoping to arrive before Halloween should prepare to be disappointed.
Ahead of the streamer’s Tudum 2022 upcoming event, Netflix revealed that the new series will begin live Wednesday, November 23. Frustratingly, it’s been a little over three weeks after the scariest night of the year, though at least a Tim Burton-directed show will premiere the day it shares the same name (slow clapping for Netflix).
“Wednesday premieres on November 23! Snap, snap, “Netflix wrote in tweet (opens in a new tab) sharing news, accompanied by a new poster featuring Jenna Ortega (The Scream) in costume as the series’ title character. Check it out below:

Over the course of eight episodes, the supernatural series about growing up will follow Wednesday’s Addams as she navigates the usual pressures of adolescence along with the unique quirks of her own dysfunctional family.
Based on what we have been told so far, we will see that Wednesday is learning to master its newfound psychic abilities, preventing the murderous frenzy of killing and an attempt to solve a 25-year-old family puzzle. Talk about your busy schedule.
Wednesday will also feature the roles of Catherine Zeta-Jones (The Legend of Zorro) as the matriarch of the Addams Morticia family, Luis Guzmán (Narcos, Shameless) as the husband and father of Gomez Addams, and Isaac Ordonez (The Wrinkle in Time) as Wednesday’s younger brother. Pugsley.
Krystyna Ricci (Yellow jackets), who played Wednesday Addams in the cult 90s movies Addams Family, is also set to appear as a character named Marilyn Thornhill, while Gwendoline Christie (Game of Thrones, The Sandman) is one of the series’ supporting cast as main Larissa Weems. head of the Academy Never Again.
As mentioned, iconic filmmaker Tim Burton (Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Alice in Wonderland … must go on?) Is on hand as the show’s executive producer. He will also sit behind the camera for several episodes of Wednesday, marking – amazingly – his first time doing it in a small screen production. Burton’s frequent collaborator Danny Elfman is also involved as the show’s composer, so expect a spooky soundtrack with Batman proportions.
We expect to hear more announcements for many of the largest and the best Netflix shows – including Playing squids, CrownThe Witcher and Bridgerton season 3 – at this weekend’s global fan event, so stay tuned for the latest TechRadar news.
