Let’s face it: Top Gun: Maverick is an exceptional film. Tom Cruise’s long-awaited return as aging flying ace Pete “Maverick” Mitchell won the hearts of critics and audiences alike – we gave the film five stars in our glowing review – and served as a timely reminder that Marvel movies are not the only order of the day when it comes to contemporary success stories on the big screen.
Top Gun: Maverick not only became one of the most successful Hollywood sequels of all time, but also the biggest film of 2022 and the first in Cruise’s 40-year career to exceed $1 billion at the box office worldwide.
So it’s no surprise that fans are eager to find out how they can enjoy the film’s aerial drama from the comfort of their own home, and below we answer the question everyone hears: where is the Top Gun Maverick stream?
Top Gun: Maverick Release Date VOD
Let’s start with the availability of video on demand (VOD). Top Gun: Maverick hits theaters on Jan May 27, 2022but the film did so well for so long that its parent studio, Paramount, decided to screen it in theaters until the end of October.
Top Gun: Maverick has finally become available for purchase on VOD streaming services August 23, 2022 – some 91 days after the theatrical debut. You can now buy the movie on Apple TV (opens in a new tab), Voodoo (opens in a new tab), Amazon (opens in a new tab) and other VOD platforms for $19.99 / £13.99, which is a pretty good deal considering the typical price of downloading blockbuster movies in recent years.
If you want to watch Top Gun: Maverick from a physical disc, the release date of the Blu-Ray movie has changed November 1, 2022meaning it can now be purchased in most regions.
Top Gun: Maverick Paramount Plus release date
Good news! Top Gun: Maverick is now streaming on Paramount Plus in the US, UK and Australia. It became available on December 22, 2022. If you’re in the UK, you can also access the film via Sky (who include Paramount Plus for free in their cinema packages).

Always a defender of the cinematic experience, film star Tom Cruise wholeheartedly resisted the temptation to release Top Gun: Maverick straight to streaming services after a wave of pandemic delays stretching back to June 2019.
Asked at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival if he had ever considered debuting the film on streamers, Cruise simply said: “It’s not going to happen. Whenever. I make movies for the big screen.”
And boy did the actor’s resistance pay off for Paramount. At the time of writing, Top Gun: Maverick has racked up a whopping $1.45 billion at the global box office, making the film the 11th highest-grossing film of all time. In the years since the beginning of the global pandemic, only Spider-Man: No Way Home has raised more money. So it’s no surprise that Cruise and Paramount decided to extend Top Gun: Maverick’s theatrical run as long as they did.
Just to clarify: Top Gun: Maverick is now streaming on Paramount Plus in the US, UK, and Australia and will be available December 22, 2022.
By the way, Paramount Plus is now available in more regions than ever. The service launched in the UK in late 2022, debuted in the US a year earlier, and costs $9.99 / £6.99 per month (or $4.99 per month for ad-supported viewing if you’re in the US).
In our opinion, however, Paramount Plus is not yet able to compete with Netflix and Disney Plus – and studio executives will hope that more movies like Top Gun: Maverick will change this reality sooner rather than later.
